This Privacy Policy (the “Policy“) sets out the data processing practices carried out through the use of our website https://fromtestingtotargetedtreatments.org/ (the “Site“) and our PM Global Landscape Mapping & Networking Tool (the “Platform“) found at https://precisionmedicine.synapseconnect.org/, owned and operated by The Synergist, a voluntary association with post office at Avenue Louise 231, 1050 Bruxelles (“FT3“, “us“, “we“, or “our“). The intellectual property rights in the Site, Synapse and The Synergist Content and copyright in all material stored, displayed and accessible on the Site or Synapse is either owned by The Synergist or duly licensed by third parties. All such rights are reserved.

In this Policy, the term “Personal Data” refers to any information regarding you personally, such as your name and email address.

Please carefully read the Policy to understand how we use your Personal Data after it has been collected by us. Please read through this Policy before submitting any of your Personal Data to us. You do not need to submit any of your Personal Data when browsing our Site or using our Platform. If you do not want us to process your Personal Data, please do not submit any of your Personal Data on this Site or on the Platform. Please note, however, that without your Personal Data, you may not be able to use some of the services offered on this Site and the Platform.

The Synergist is responsible for your personal data. The Synergist comprises The Synergist ASBL – BE0536 681 303, headquartered at Avenue Louise 231 – 1050 Brussels – Belgium, Synergist Services SPRL – BE0642 918 077, and also the initiatives hosted by The Synergist ASBL: Patient Focused Medicines Development, Break Dengue, Maternal Health Alliance, Safe Motherhood Week, From Testing to Targeted Treatments and Pregnancy and Medicine Initiative.

This Policy may be updated from time to time. The date of the most recent revisions will appear on this page, so please visit this Policy each time prior to submitting your Personal Data.

 2. When do we collect Personal Data?

We collect Personal Data from you through the use of our Site or our Platform, when you create a profile or when you post a comment or content on our Site or our Platform and every time you email us your details.

3. What Personal Data we may collect from you?

When you create a profile on our Site you will be required to provide us with the following Personal Data:

  • Name and first name;
  • Company name;
  • Position in the Company;
  • Title;
  • Company’s website if any;
  • Email address.

When you create a profile on our Site you can also provide us with the following Personal Data on a voluntary basis:

  • Short description about you;
  • Pledge to Patients;
  • Photo;
  • Links to your social networks accounts such as LinkedIn.

When you visit our Site or our Platform we automatically collect the following Personal Data about you via cookies and other tracking technologies:

  • All the information regarding the pages you have visited on our Site and your use of our Platform.

We will never knowingly collect sensitive Personal Data such as health-related data about you or any third person. You are not allowed to provide us with sensitive Personal Data and, in the event that you do so, we reserve the right to delete those data as soon as we find out, without notice. The Synergist cannot be held liable if sensitive Personal Data belonging to you or any third party is entered in breach of these stipulations. 

 

4. What do we do with your Personal Data?

Essentially, the Site and the Platform are used to provide and share information about The Synergist and patient engagement initiatives in medicines development. When you give us any Personal Data as indicated above, we use it to:

  • Administer our Site and our Platform;
  • Customise the content and layout of our pages for each individual visitor;
  • Inform you about updates to our Site and our Platform;
  • Provide you with information regarding and patient engagement initiatives in medicines development;
  • Provide other users with information about you when you post content on the Platform.

We will not retain your Personal Data longer than is necessary for the proposed purposes for the processing of your Personal Data.

5. Who do we pass your Personal Data to?

We provide other users with information about you when you post content on the Platform.

We will only disclose Personal Data to government bodies and law enforcement agencies if required by law or to comply with judicial requests. We may also share Personal Data with external service providers which we engage to process Personal Data on our behalf.

Some of the service providers we engage may be based in countries outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). In such circumstance, we shall comply with all applicable laws and take steps to ensure that your Personal Data receives the same level of protection as within the EEA, that it is kept secure and used only in accordance with our instructions and for the purposes that we have indicated to you at the time of collection of your Personal Data.

Aside from that, we do not share your Personal Data outside The Synergist with third parties.

Therefore, by browsing the Site or using the Platform and submitting Personal Data to us, you acknowledge our processing of your Personal Data on this basis.

When you access and use the Site and the Platform, we use cookies and other tracking technologies, as described below.

8. Linking to other websites

Statistics cookies measure the number of visits, the number of pages viewed, user activity on the site and user return frequency. Your IP address is also collected to determine the town/city where you connect. The traffic statistics data is collected by the service provider and then provided to The Synergist in aggregate and anonymous form in a web interface accessible only to the data controller. The data collected is not transferred to third parties, nor used for other purposes. You can block these cookies at any time by using the opt-out procedure mentioned above via the link. Third parties, including Facebook, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from your websites and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads.

The Site may contain hyperlinks to websites owned and operated by third parties.  These websites have their own privacy policies and we urge you to review them. They will govern the use of Personal Data you submit whilst visiting these websites.  

We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third party websites and your use of such websites is at your own risk.

9. Security

We maintain safeguards to protect the Personal Data you provide to us through the Site and the Platform against unauthorised disclosure, use, alteration, or destruction. Please note, however, that perfect security does not exist on the Internet. Therefore, while we endeavour to protect your Personal Data, when Personal Data is transferred over the Internet it may potentially be accessed and used by unauthorised parties.

 

10. Your right to access your Personal Data

You have the right to access and request a copy of the Personal Data that we hold on you and to request the correction or deletion of your Personal Data.
